What are eyelash extensions?
Not to be confused with the self-stick strip lashes of yesteryear or individual clusters of lashes knotted together, these semi-permanent, mink extensions are glued one by one onto the natural lash (not the skin) by using a specially formulated medical grade glue. Eyelash extensions is a beauty service that originated in Korea. Single mink eyelashes are applied to your own natural lash to achieve a beautiful full luscious and long set of lashes that are so natural you won't even know they are there.

Should I be careful who applies the eyelash extensions and should they be trained?
Absolutely, we cannot stress the importance of choosing an eyelash artist/technician who has been taught by a qualified and experienced lash tech.  There are many eyelash extension artist/technician who claim to have been professionally trained but have been self taught via the internet and these lash artist/technician also use cheap quality products bought on ebay or china. Please do your research thoroughly and ask many questions before having your lashes done..

How are the eyelash extensions applied?
A single natural eyelash is isolated and a mink lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the mink lash has any contact with the skin.

How long does the application take?
The procedure will take approximately 2- 2 and half hours for a full set and approximately 45-60 minute for a re-fill. It is a meticulous procedure that requires patience and concentration so therefore it should not be rushed so that clients can leave with a perfect set of lashes. You relax with your eyes closed and there is no pain as this is a non-invasive procedure. Often clients are so relaxed they fall asleep.

Can I do eyelash extensions myself?
No. Eyelash extensions should only be applied by a trained and certified professional.

Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?
Your natural lash cycle is 60-90 days and each one of your natural lashes are on their own individual growth cycle, so your natural lashes are constantly shedding. Every lash is isolated and individual or volume lashes are applied properly so they can grow and shed on their own.

Can I still wear eye makeup?
Yes, but you won’t need mascara and you may even find you won’t need eyeliner, but you can still use eyeliner and eye shadows as usual, remember to remove with a product that do not contain oil of any kind as this will affect the glue. We recommend removing eyeliner and eyeshadow using a damp cotton and a small amount of oil free eye make-up remover and gently running it along the eyeliner to remove it. To remove eyeshadow use a damp cotton wipe and oil free eye make-up remover, gently remove eyeshadow in a side and upward movement and not down onto the eyelash extensions. Wiping down towards the lashes will cause a build up of makeup on the lashes and may become lose.

Can I wear mascara?
You won’t have to! You can roll out of bed looking great. No more running and streaking mascara, If desired you can wear a non-waterproof mascara on the lower lashes but remember to only use eye makeup remover that contains no oil base in it.

Can I curl or perm eyelash extensions?
No, do not perm your beautiful new eyelash extensions. Using an eyelash curler is not recommended and will lessen the life of your eyelash extensions and damage them.

How long will my mink lashes last?
With the proper care approximately 3-4 weeks. Do not be duped by those salons and online ads that tell you their lanes last for 2+ months. Your natural lash cycle is 60-90 days and each one of your natural lashes are on their own individual growth cycle, so your natural lashes are constantly shedding. Eyelash extensions will not last for two months +.

I had my mink eyelash extensions applied a few days ago and a few lashes have fallen out - why?
As explained above the lash has a growth cycle of 60 to 90 days and unfortunately it is hard to determine which lash is ready to naturally fall out when applying the mink lash extension. Each day you can loose between 3-5 natural lashes, they often fall out unnoticed unless they fall into your eye, when eyelash extensions are applied we are more aware of when they shed as we know the extensions are there.

How often do I need to Re-fill/Touch-up my lashes?
You will require re-fill/touch-up every 2-4 weeks if you would like to achieve a consistently full fresh set of lashes.

Are the eyelash extensions glued to my skin?
No, it is adhered approximately 1mm from the eyelid.

Is the eyelash glue you use safe?
Yes, we use a made in USA hypoallergenic, fume and latex free medical grade eyelash adhesive, that is suitable for very sensitive eyes.
